A growing number of people in academia combine expertise in programming with an intricate understanding of research. Although this combination of skills is extremely valuable, these people lack a formal place in the academic system. This means there is no easy way to recognise their contribution, to reward them, or to represent their views.

Met Office representatives attending CEMAC Launch Event

The School of Earth & Environment has had a long relationship with the Met Office. Many PhD students within different research groups use the Unified Model (UM) codes to perform weather/climate simulations. Representatives from the Met Office will be attending the Launch Event to strengthen and form new ties with them in different areas. CEMAC is looking to hire a dedicated UM support person to help support the use of the model with the school, to allow the most up-to-date and high resolutions versions of the model to be utilised.
