The School of Earth & Environment has had a long relationship with the Met Office. Many PhD students within different research groups use the Unified Model (UM) codes to perform weather/climate simulations. Representatives from the Met Office will be attending the Launch Event to strengthen and form new ties with them in different areas. CEMAC is looking to hire a dedicated UM support person to help support the use of the model with the school, to allow the most up-to-date and high resolutions versions of the model to be utilised.
The School of Earth & Environment has had a long and fruitful partnership with ARC within the University of Leeds. The school is one of the largest users of the HPC facilities provided by ARC. CEMAC will enhance this relationship even further through forming stronger ties and by using the ARC facilities to solve even more complex scientific problems.
The PETAL Launch Event will take place within the CEMAC Launch Event on June 21st 2016. There will be a poster describing the PETAL service as well as pamphlets for people to take with them, describing the features of PETAL.
